Venue: The Grove, Hertfordshire

Recently, 4 members of the In2Events team were kindly hosted by Michael Cloke at The Grove for a sumptuous dinner, venue site visit and to experience some of the luxurious perks that the venue has to offer.

Venue Overview:

A stunning countryside retreat, The Grove is steeped in history and has all the required ingredients to provide guests with a five- star experience. The hotel boasts an award-winning spa, championship golf course and offers gastronomical delights from their beautiful on-site restaurants. Surrounded by 300 acres of lush woodland and countryside, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in a remote part of the world and may be surprised that this hotel is perfectly situated just 18 miles from London, close to both the M1 and M25 – a superbly placed and accessible country escape!

Our Arrival:

Upon arriving at The Grove on a rainy Friday night we were warmly welcomed and shown to our rooms, each of which had been lovingly restored with modern touches that complemented the original 18th Century style of the building. Accommodation at The Grove varies between the style of Mansion rooms and the rooms in the contemporary West Wing. Each offer ESPA toiletries, complimentary Wi-Fi, views of the grounds and complimentary access to the on-site luxury spa.

Later that evening we were hosted in the Glass House restaurant and enjoyed a mouth-watering dining experience within a relaxed yet glamorous setting.

Discovering The Grove:

The next morning, we woke up and had our first sight of the incredible estate by daylight. After a tasty breakfast we were taken on a tour of the venue in order to discover what more this unique space can provide to meet the needs of its many visitors.

Inspiring Event Space:

The Grove does not disappoint when it comes to a diverse portfolio of rooms that are great options for events of different sizes and varying purposes. With contemporary event spaces that all have natural daylight and views of their stunning English gardens, the meeting rooms are completely flexible with dividing walls separating them and each one has its own in-built screens, with the largest of their luxury event spaces being able to accommodate up to 450 guests.

Even being shown around in the winter months it was clear to see the possibilities of utilising their abundance (13,048m2 to be exact) of outdoor space in order to create an event with a quirky and unexpected edge. Moving outside the walls of the house, The Grove presents event organisers the opportunity to hire a marquee or raj tent in the Walled Garden. The grounds also house a swimming pool, beach area, tennis courts and kitchen garden – amazing options to consider for events as the warmer weather approaches.

Both day delegate rates and 24-hour rates are offered and are flexible in order to accommodate the needs and requirements of various meeting formats. There’s also the option of impressing delegates and guests with the culinary expertise of The Grove chefs. With options of booking into one of their many restaurants on-site, saliva inducing dishes are on offer from a variety of delicious cooking stations at The Glass House, or take the chance to opt for simple, yet incredibly prepared food cooked to perfection in The Stables. That’s not all - there is also the option to dine in their pop-up restaurant, book in for afternoon tea or have lunch served in the meeting room foyers.

Stopping by at the Sequoia Spa:

After getting to know the hotel better, it was time for a bit of rest and relaxation in the form of hitting the spa and we didn’t have to be asked twice to take full advantage of the inviting pool and heat experience rooms - the four of us even got a chance to join in the complimentary aqua aerobics class taking place, which was energetic and great fun!

The Sequoia, as an award-winning spa, of course also offers specialist treatments for guests, transporting them to a place of peace and tranquility – what more could you want from a spa experience?

Something ‘Fore’ Everyone:

If the Spa isn’t for you, perhaps Golf is? If so, booking a tee time on one of the UK’s most prestigious golf courses is a must. The golf course at The Grove has proudly staged both a World Golf Championship event and the British Masters, and the greens have been graced by world class players such as Tiger Woods.

Highly Recommended:

Although this was a short trip, the team and the venue were incredibly memorable, and we cannot wait to put this forward to our clients. It is a fantastic option for a high-end English country setting with the benefit of being so close to London and main transport links.
