Yum International, the umbrella company of KFC approached us in need of a bespoke team incentive itinerary to be created and implemented in May 2015. The fast food chain wanted to arrange a trip for twenty of their KFC staff members from central and eastern Europe to come together in a destination within a two to three hour flight time of the UK for a three day incentive.

The aim of the event was to recognise the achievements of the brands top General Managers across Europe, to update them on the companies movements and to treat them to three days of fun as a thank you for their hard work to date. KFC wanted us to put together a mixture of activities suitable for a variety of people that may or may not have visited the selected destination before, as well as offering something that would create a buzz within the company to get other General Mangers excited for the prospect of attending the same event next year.

After much consideration and many location suggestions presented by us, KFC whittled their selection down and decided to move forward with Barcelona, Spain as the incentive destination. When the location was finalised, we were tasked with finding a suitable centralised Hotel large enough for the whole group which offered meeting facilities as well as good amenities.  As this event was booked to take place on the dates that lead up to the Formula 1 weekend, we found that hotel prices were more inflated than normal. We managed to secure a hotel with great rates before the F1 dates were 100% finalised which definitely worked in favour of the budget.

The next step was for us to book in some fun activities to spread across the two main ‘active’ days in the agenda, these were; Go Cars tour, Paella Making Workshop, F.C. Barcelona Camp Nou Tour and a day at Portaventura theme park. We found that these activities offered a fantastic array of entertainment. Portaventura was pre-booked for the first full day; this offered a great relaxed way for the delegates to gel and get to know one another and also offered each individual personal time to do what they wanted away from the main group.

On the second full day we found that the Go Cars tour was great at providing a quick snapshot of historical information on the destination and its heritage, as well as being fun, it was a perfect balance for those who hadn’t been to the city before to give them a quick overview in the time they were there.  The Paella making workshop, situated undercover, outside, next to the waterfront offered a perfect setting for lunch. This activity worked as not only a lunch but an entertaining activity and chance for delegates to integrate with each other.

The tour of F.C. Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium was a high point for many of the delegates visiting the city, as we were able to go inside the players changing rooms, on to the pitch and spend time in the official shop where some delegates bought tickets to watch Barcelona play at home in the Champions League Semi-Final; a memory not to forget! Outside of the hotel booking and activity coordination we also managed restaurant bookings for three off-site dinners. Two of the three off-site dinners were booked within a ten minute walking distance of the hotel to save on transfer costs for the group and the third and final night’s dinner venue was booked looking over the beach; a twenty minute drive away from the hotel. All dinner venues offered a mix of European cuisines and were set up very well for large groups. We offered full on-site support for the duration of the trip and recommended local bars and attractions for people to do in their spare time.

Overall the event was a great success and each delegate had a very memorable time. The client and their management were very happy with how everything went and we look forward to our new business relationship growing.
